The FRANCIS PADUA PAPICA FOUNDATION, INC. (FPPFI) is a non-profit, public benefit corporation started in 1997 by Francis Padua Papica to encourage and acknowledge the outstanding individual achievements of young Filipino men and women.
The Foundation hopes to educate and empower the Filipino youth to strengthen our nation through community service. Accordingly, the Foundation is guided by three principles: LEADERSHIP, SCHOLARSHIP and COMMUNITY SERVICE.
LEADERSHIP
The Foundation seeks to promote and nurture the leadership potential of the young people in our society. In acknowledging the efforts of the few, the Foundation hopes to encourage the many to participate in various leadership roles in our society. The Foundation sponsors the Annual FPPFI Youth Leadership Conference aimed at encouraging the Filipino youth to take a more active and direct involvement in leadership roles within their respective communities.
SCHOLARSHIP
Since its inception, the Foundation has provided full and partial scholarships to approximately 300 students. The scholarship is awarded to those individuals who have shown outstanding and consistent leadership and dedicated service to school and community. The student must be exemplary in his/her conduct, school spirit and service to the parish, the school and the community. The "FPPFI College Bound Program" provides four year scholarship grants to the outstanding students who exemplify the values of Leadership, Scholarship and Community Service. The College Bound recipients are selected from among the leadership awardees after undergoing rigorous interview process before the FPPFI Board of Directors. The Foundation currently supports 26 full time college students.
Through the "Read to Live, Libro Ko Para Sa'Yo Program", literacy has become the cornerstone of the Foundation's goals. The Foundation ships approximately 100,000 leisure reading, informative books (not textbooks) and distributed throughout the Philippines to encourage reading in all age levels.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
The Foundation believes in taking “service” deeper through engaged and inspired student leadership. Guided by the Foundation’s three principles, the Foundation seeks to promote vibrant, productive communities with involved and responsible citizens. It hopes to establish a unique partnership that integrates the unique skills and talents of the Filipino youth with the needs of the community. In addition to its Medical Mission Program, the Foundation awards a direct annual grant of P10,000.00 separately to each secondary and tertiary levels of every district to be applied to projects selected during the student workshop portion of the Youth Leadership Conference.
In 2003, the Foundation launched its latest project in the Bicol Region, the “Read to Achieve Program: Libro Para sa Puturo; Daan sa Pag-Asenso.” The program was launched on a national scale in 2006 under the banner, "Read to Live: Libro Ko Para Sa'Yo."
The Foundation is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. It is comprised of a twelve member Board of Directors who guide and direct the Foundation. The Executive Director of the Foundation is Ophelia Dancel, Ph.D. All correspondence should be sent to FPPFI, Narra Street, Mariano Village, Naga City (054) 811-1941.
